• The famous Negombo beach is at its widest in front of this property with a huge expanse of sand stretching for a few kilometers either side. Perfect for beach games, and you can even play a game of football or cricket with the locals too. The sea is not great for swimming but there are plenty of spots for wading in to the sea.

In A Nutshell: The Beach was originally designed by Sri Lanka’s master architect, Geoffrey Bawa. Now extensively revamped with a modern, chic, minimalist feel, the hotel has become one of the most sought after ‘top-end’ beach hotels in the island. A lot of clients are no doubt attracted by the 20 minute transfer time to Colombo Airport, thereby totally avoiding Sri Lanka’s congested and bumpy roads. Negombo itself is undergoing something of a revival and suits people who like to go out to local restaurants and bars which are within easy reach.
Tips: The spacious Honeymoon Suites on the top floors are fabulous with outdoor showers and indoor Jacuzzi’s.
